Oregon Cactus & Succulent Society meeting

Perhaps I'll see some of you this next Sunday. We're hosting the June meeting of the Oregon Cactus & Succulent Society at 4:30 pm here at the nursery next Sunday, June 28. We'll be sharing a potluck meal, I'll be sharing a program on Haworthias and in general we'll have a good time. We'd be glad to have you join us: 7009 N. Fiske Ave in North Portland.

Lobivia haematantha rebutioides sublimiflora (syn. Echinopsis denspina)

Beaverton Succulent Garden

No, this isn't a garden in Tucson; it's in the Portland, Oregon metro area. Mark Burgess has created a beautiful garden which includes many cacti and succulents which many would assume couldn't survive outside in our climate: Agave 'Green Goblet', Echinocereus rigidissimus subsp. rubispinus and E. rigidissimus albispina to name a few. Plus, of course, a wide variety of chollas and other opuntias. Good job, Mark!

Epiphyllums 'Stormy Weather' and 'Butterup'

This morning I'm posting a double-header. Well, they're not on the same plant..., but this is a photo of both 'Buttercup' and 'Stormy Weather' blooming at the same time. I never get tired of these!

The Epies are blooming!

We don't have a large collection of Epies, and they don't really fit in to our desert plant greenhouses, and at this time of year we generally wish we had room for a whole lot more! I'll be posting a few photos we've been taking over the last couple of weeks, beginning with 'Red Rocket', and what a beauty.
